Evolution.. a theory.. a contraversy..

A scientific theory is just a set of predictions about something in the natural world. Not all of the predictions must be "proven" for a theory to be considered true.

Although Hafele and Keating proved Einstein's prediction on time dilation in Relativity there are still some predictions that cannot be proven. For instance, according to relativity an objects mass approaches infinity as its velocity approaches the speed of light. Since the universe is finite there is no way for an object to have infinite mass. Therefore it is impossible to test what happens to an object with mass at the speed of light. That doesn't mean that Gravity, Relativity's main component, doesn't exist.

God's method of creation is in part, the mechanics of evolution. The Bible says "God Created" not HOW God created. It neither supports nor denies any method what so ever.

500 years ago it would have been heresy to claim the Earth was not the center of the universe. Yet today every Christian believes this Copernican theory to be true. Why is it no longer heresy? Why... because our understanding of God's method has evolved.

When we look at God's creation the vast majority of the evidence points toward evolution as the method just as the vast majority of evidence pointed toward the Earth not being the center of the universe. This doesn't disprove anything in the Bible. It just evolves our understand of God's method even more. So why the huge controversy?

I think creationists/intelligent designers/conservative christians are afraid their God is dieing. They have somewhat of a strong point. Many Muslim extremists call America the "Great Satan", for good reason. Atheists have made a mockery of this country and would be ecstatic if God could be stricken from everything. Do they really think if religion didn't exist that all murder, rape, torture, and war would magically disappear?

Why do we need religion? Because it teaches us a strong moral value system. Especially when we are unable or unwilling to learn one on our own. Let's look at one great example. Where is America's family right now? It's in the gutter, that's where! 40% of all first marriages not only end in failure, but the majority leave behind a child. A child whose weekend warrior father does not have the ability nor the resources to raise and teach his child correctly. And why is that? Because mom and dad didn't think about morality before they took their pants off, that's why. Without God in our lives we fail to consider the consequences of the decisions we make. "What happens if I get pregnant from this drunken one night stand?" It used to be adultery and coveting would earn a person an eternity in hell, now it merely earns him a bastard child and a 17% deduction from his paycheck.

We make laws to protect ourselves from the unprotected then we plaster the media with embellished "examples" in order to prove that our faulty laws are working. We force everyone to be safe because we can't bare the fact that someone we don't even know might get hurt. Yet we fail to look at the real issues. In the end we're nothing more then a stagnant and paranoid society that has no where to turn for hope.

But that doesn't give Christians the right to use logical fallacies to make their point. God does exist and God can easily be incorporated with the latest scientific belief. As I said before, the Bible makes no claims as to the method, only the outcome.

Maybe it's time we stopped bickering about whose interpretation is correct and start coming together as a people instead.
